re: #102 Dopamine Fish

I understand that. The joke is that it’s not worth it to be forced to move to Jackson and be stuck on-site 100% of the time. I’d rather get paid more cash to live in a nicer place and not have to be in an enclosed space with a bunch of plague rats.

oh, i see what you mean. I often wonder if folks from places like New York City or San Francisco understand about the standard of living in much of the southeast. my property management is wanting to raise my rent to around 675 next go-around, and for that, I have a one bedroom with a private balcony, washer/dryer, dishwasher. It’s not the newest apartment in the world, but I’m assuming this would be 3,000 minimum anywhere within commuting distance of The City (either one of them!). If I could swing a house, which I can’t because apparently I’m not allowed by God’s will to keep the same combination of jobs for more than two years at a time, my mortgage with home insurance could easily be as low as 300 a month on a 30 year loan for what folks in the fancy seement enclaves would need half-a-mill for. The catch? People actually want to live in San Francisco or New York City. Not so much Williamston, SC. Though it does have its charms.
