Ross Douthat makes a good living by being a beard for the far right — the ostensibly moderate Republican who actually supports every right wing issue, no matter how extreme, but talks a great line and hides it very well.

I actually would say Douthat isn’t a moderate, he’s just smart enough to realize that ultimately simply screaming “No!” and stamping your feet doesn’t work. Government does have things it needs to do and the current paralysis isn’t good for the nation.
