In other news, a guy just came by with his full-suspension bike that has a creaking noise somewhere, which he refers to as ‘obviously the bottom bracket.’ The other shop took it apart and put it back together, but that didn’t fix it, but still it’s obviously the bottom bracket. No, couldn’t be one of those dozen pivot points in the vicinity, nor a chainring bolt nor pedal. No. It’s ‘obviously’ the bottom bracket. Because he can feel it in his feet.

I’ve had the same symptom turn out to be the derailler hangar. But in this case I think I’ll grab one of his feet and clamp it in the vise for an exam….
