How long before Trump tries to fire him?

Like all bullies, Trump knows only to pick on people who won’t fight back.

But the reality of politics worldwide, and of diplomacy, is that those involved in such endeavors are pretty determined individuals.

Which brings me to this: the more I think about it, the more I am convinced (yeah, I know) that Trump’s success has everything to do with the religiosity of the American electorate. Contra to a few high-minded theologian types, Trump pretty much swept up the fundamentalists in large swaths of this country.

Why?

I think it really comes down to a desire to live in an alternate reality, where their beliefs will be reified instead of challenged.

Obama, and all us urban elites, are continually challenging the belief systems of the religious right.

OTOH, Trump is doing his best to tell them that they are right (even though he probably thinks they are fools.)

Anyway, while the right-wing fundamentalists are bending over backwards to come up with new excuses for Trump (see Beck as just one example), those around the world in leadership and diplomacy positions know exactly what Trump is. He won’t fool them.
