Given past incidents like this, I imagine his defense at trial is gonna be that the video doesn’t show how Floyd was a “scary black man” with berserker strength and nigh invulnerability. He’ll just say some variation of “I felt he was a danger to me/others” and the jury will be instructed that so long as that “feeling” existed, the law says it’s “self-defense” and any actions taken totally legal because he’s a cop.

nah. he’s gonna do 15 years. the bastards who stood by and let him get away with it are gonna get time as accessories to murder under color of authority. don’t know what the law is in minnesota, but in lots of states, doing something illegal under color of authority is considered especially heinous and worthy of significant sanction. Hell, I’m pretty sure California still executes cops who tamper with evidence in capital trials.
