Seems incredibly short sighted though. If they were to lead a bipartisan effort to impeach and remove Trump, sure, they probably get trounced in 2018 and/or 2020 because the Trumpkinists stay home or vote for the new Tangerine Party. But long term, they’re probably better off. For comparison’s sake: Nixon won big in 1972, and even 1974 wasn’t terrible for them (other than the 49 seats in the House), they lost one seat in each House in 1976 and even kept the presidential election close. By 1980 they had a majority in the Senate and won back all their losses in the House, along with the Reagan presidency.
