I’ve had same experience trying to replicate mom’s pot roast. Never even come close. Maybe if I get my hands on the same pot, I might have a chance, but doubt it. Some things just remain a mystery.

The Mrs has a similar experience with doing crumb cakes - she can’t quite get it the same way her grandma did it.
