Perhaps the people who follow the words and deeds of the itinerant carpenter rabbi in the New Testament should leave behind the name “Christian” to the fascists and racists who make up such a large part of that. Some other name which stands for inclusion and love which they claim.

The earliest followers of the Jewish splinter group referred to themselves as simpler followers of the Way. Christian seems (depending up the sources used) more to have started as a name about them rather than by them. Your point about finding a different name has merit but at this point it would be like the non-abusive police trying to call themselves something other than police; no one else is going to go along with it.

For better or worse, it is the name hung on all of us and it is up to me to live up to the name especially when most do not.
