Shariah law protesters, some toting rifles, gather in front of North Texas Islamic center

RICHARDSON — Hundreds gathered around the Islamic Association of North Texas in Richardson on Saturday to protest Islamic law, which they fear is a growing threat to American values and the U.S. Constitution.
The rally was peaceful, although several protesters were armed with rifles — even as children filed into the mosque.
“Schoolchildren were coming to weekend school facing grown men in army fatigues with automatic assault rifles,” said Khalid Y. Hamideh, a lawyer and spokesman for the Islamic Association of North Texas.
Similar protests organized by the lobbyist group ACT for America took place in cities around the country, including Austin and Houston, as a nationwide “March Against Sharia.”

A friend who was there says there were no more than 30-35 wackos and a much larger number of counter-demonstrators. The photos show little beyond Meal Team Six, a few escaped Confederate bushwhackers, and some groupies.
