The Court stayed the ruling pending filings by both sides.

I’m not surprised by this move, but it gives the Court the opportunity to issue a ruling. Had they declined to pick up the case, it would have required Mazars to hand over the tax records and financial papers.

The Roberts bench might still let Trump prevail on some bulkshit legal theory, but they’re at least going through the motions of giving both sides time to submit papers.

I can see Roberts using this as a chance to argue through the lack of merits with his conservative colleagues, to try and get them to see that taking up the case for real can only damage their reputations in the long run.
