Wow!!!! Talk about throwing a Welterweight into the ring with a Super-Heavy. TF Taffy 3 sure were punching above their weight class that day, and some major tactical errors were made by the Japanese

The Japanese were pretty weary by that point. I think Kurita’s spirit was pretty much broken. At that point the tenacious resistance Taffy 3 put up just pushed him to the point of retreat.

I recall reading that when the Johnston went down the captain of one of the Japanese ships bowed as it went under. They deserved it. Unparalleled courage.
