Just wanted to mention, I was away in lurk mode on the last thread when everyone was discussing the ad in the Naw’lins newspaper placed by Harry Shearer. It seemed some of the LGFers didn’t remember Mr. Shearer, and then it became clear that he was the voice on some of The Simpsons characters. Good…to a point.

But!

How could anyone forget Derek Smalls…the iconic bass player in Spinal Tap?!!!

He has also been in other Chris Guest movies like A Mighty Wind. Probably a hundred bit parts in many a major movie (check out his wiki page…you’ve seen him a lot).

And for the longest time, he had a nice little LeShow on NPR radio.

He actually got his start with the help of voice specialist Mel Blanc.

He’s had a very big career in all kinds of entertainment vehicles.

And apparently nobody watched SNL when he was on there either. I tried and tried to find the Harry Shearer/Martin Short Synchronized Swimming sketch, but no luck….
