I was browsing the text of the Constitution, and the emoluments clause issue vs. Trump is non-existent, IMO:
Trump has the consent of the equally corrupt Republican Congress for his foreign bribe taking.
The flip side of this coin is that Trump’s bribe-taking is constitutional only because Congressional Republicans are making it so, which ought to be a useful message for the Democrats.
I think, however, that the ‘gift’ has to be openly declared and decided on by Congress. It can’t (or traditionally hasn’t) been something where Congress gave blanket immunity.
