Putin’s not doing anything his predecessors didn’t dabble in for generations. The only difference is that the fear of being associated with Russia died with the Cold War. Where once being caught taking even a ruble from a Soviet citizen would have killed your political career, now it gets wrapped up in “debate” about whether or not it’s wrong to take money/info from foreign sources.

Prior generations of Soviet leadership did not have Social Media to spread their poison nor the technical capacity to infiltrate our voting administration systems. The internet has opened access to all malefactors and given unlimited power to anyone, no matter how humble, with the technical skills to manipulate the data that underlies our civilization.
