McKay Coppins, writing for the Atlantic, has a rather short story about Trump’s general contempt for the religious people who support him. Much of it is in this thread.

Former aides say they’ve heard Trump privately ridicule conservative religious leaders, dismiss faith groups with cartoonish stereotypes, and deride rites and doctrines held sacred by many in his base.

Coppins does not mention on Twitter what he does say at the end of his story, which is that Trump would mock Romney over the sacred undergarments Mormons wear.

The whole thing is disgusting, but, frankly, I’m rather glad that Evangelicals have gone almost all in on Trump, because it shows how completely vacuous and power-hungry that bunch are, to the point where they’d set their own movement on fire.
