re: #108 mmmirele
Some journalists dislike Bellingcat because they will pay sources. In particular, Bellingcat’s work on tracing Navalny’s poisoners was accomplished by paying for access to some Russian databases. This is apparently a bridge too far for someone.
There is a difference between paying a “live” source for a testimony, therefore tainting it, and anonymously buying “static”, already existing data from crooked officials, who are not themselves sources of any oral testimony (does a journalist buying a book “pay his source”, in this case, a book shop?). So credibility of those who blame Bellingcat for this is doubtful.
