While I don’t disagree with you, there are an awful lot of men I know who literally don’t know how to cook or clean, because they were expected to find a wife to do all that for them. And my mom and dad grew up in a community with similar expectations.

When we were newly married, Wife’s relatives from Deepest Tennessee came for their first visit. She was in the trailer, I was outside grilling burgers for lunch. The leader of the pack went in and said to Wife: “In all my born days, I never thought I’d see a man turn a hand to cookin’”.
