The plebs are focusing on the whole “Trump declassified them” talking point, but they’re missing the mark. As several legal experts pointed out yesterday, the statutes Trump is being investigated under do not depend on the documents’ classification status. All that matters is:

1) Could the information contained therein threaten the national security of the United States?
2) Did he have them in his possession in an unsecured fashion such that they could be considered “mishandled”?
3) Did he refuse to give them back when the government asked for them, such that they could be considered stolen?
