Life as a small-town official:
Five minutes after my wife and I got back from town, I got a call from the mayor emeritus.
He complained that the water tower alarm was making automated calls to his house.
I have not yet been trained in the water system, but I was the only board member he could get hold of.
I called all the other board members, no joy. Called the just-left chairwoman pro-tempore asking what the heck am I supposed to do. She had also been called by the alarm system (apparently the phone number list in the alarm system hasn’t been updated in several years). She’d already called the gun shop owner (who knows the system) to take a look at it.
He found that one of the two wells was off-line, causing the water tower alarm to go haywire (it was complaining it is too cold apparently). He reset the system and the problem ceased.
I spent a couple hours on the phone trying to get hold of anyone that could help me figure out what was going on before the former chairwoman pro-tempore called me back.
