Lake Michigan flood barriers to be installed along select beaches starting Thursday night or Friday

Too bad climate modelling didn’t predict that part of the world will have increased precipitation as the Earth’s surface warms…. oh wait…. they did.

There are areas in Chicago where high rise apartment buildings were built just a few feet from the lake. Expensive high rises. When they were built, they were probably 20 or 30 feet from the water but that has changed and last time I was there, the lake was spitting distance from the building.

If you look at a map where Lake Shore Drive begins (at the north), you will see what I am talking about. That entire area going north for probably a mile is going to have big problems.

I grew up near there. I know the area well.
