re: #110 Barefoot Grin

Well, maybe the Dems can be the party of subsidies. I don’t know how you change it then. There’s no incentive at your local level and in many places the next biggest employer is either Walmart or the local penitentiary.

The other tool used to be pork, but that’s not possible in the age of no earmarks.

We don’t have any local Walmarts. The nearest is over sixty miles away.

I wonder what would happen if the Democratic Party (nationally) were to offer infrastructure improvements to areas such as ours. (I dunno, maybe wireless service. Perhaps encouraging corporations to invest in Internet service. Maybe 911 service - our county got that in 2012 but most of the rural counties here don’t have it. A few paved roads might be nice too.)

Businesses prosper more under Democratic administrations than Republican ones. Perhaps encouraging businesses to make investments in underserved areas would help.

I dunno, I am not an economist (nor for that matter a farmer). I do know that the national party blowing off the state parties and the state parties blowing off the county parties is not exactly a recipe for success.
