Ultra-Orthodox Jews have these rules too. It gets kind of crazy in Israel when they collide with the rest of the secular population. Also: it seems like all religious extremists have become MORE EXTREME in recent years. When I lived in Israel back in the ‘70’s they weren’t this insane.

Maybe all these deeply fundamental religious groups are seeing their ways going away more and more as the world becomes more open. So, they cling harder and dig deeper.

If you think about it, politics is much the same. Look at both the far right and far left.

I guess that goes with why you can’t discuss religion and politics.
