How actually does someone, a former Senator no less, get canned from a wingnut welfare job like Heritage, anyway?

According to Politico, Heritage had become too politicized and the board thought DeMint wasn’t the right person to return it to a real think tank that generated actual thoughtful conservative ideas. But then again, it doesn’t seem that modern conservatives have much of merit to contribute to public discourse these days.
