Ideally you want a mix of left, right, center left and center right so that compromise can be found in the middle.

America has been a center right or the right country for a long long time despite what the RWNJs tell us about Clinton and Obama.

What Americans think of as ‘far left’ and ‘radical’ is nothing of the sort. It is a constant framing issue - US mass media attacks anything within the concept of the commons as far left radicalism, for no other reason than it might mean that rich people aren’t quite as rich compared to everyone else. American media exists to safeguard the caste system in the US - rich above poor, male above female, white above everyone else. That sort of structural problem is going to be very difficult to change.
