I’ve seen the suggestion in recent weeks that the motivation behind the money men who run the Conservative Party is getting out of the EU before next January, when new tax and financial records laws go into effect, which would mean those men would have to show where they’re hiding their wealth or risk legal action.

Makes sense: one thing the Brexiteer Brigade have been really reticent to do is to encourage any deep analysis as to exactly WHO is going to benefit the most from the UK being out of Europe*. I’ve seen a number of opinion pieces since the referendum noting that certain sectors of Big Money were hoping to cash in big in a non-EU London financial scene, as they were/are counting on a much “freer” attitude towards market regulations post-Bexit. Which, AFAIC, simply means turning the UK financial markets into a combination of Cyprus/The Caymans/Las Vegas, with just enough money being turned back to buy off any regulators that the “free market” might leave in place.

*besides the usual “everybody will benefit” boilerplate BS….
