Jonathan Turley is among those who wrote up a law review paper about how you can impeach and remove at trial even if someone has resigned or otherwise left office.

It’s the political act of removal that shows no one is above the law. Trump and GOP delayed the trial so that the GOP treasonweasel caucus could claim the issue is moot.

Fuck that. They purposefully delayed the trial to give them an excuse to do nothing. They wanted to avoid having to vote to remove Trump while he was still in office, and want to avoid a vote because they know enough GOPers will show complicity with Trump’s effort to overthrow the government.
