One of the constant of politics is the media is forever in search of that one candidate who will finally make a third party viable in American politics. They spend the time between presidential elections talking incessently about how this person or that one will be the candidate who finally breaks the dam and begins the flood of third parties in America…and then they perform so terribly that they barely get above 2% and it’s back to “Well, maybe this guy will be the one!”

Given the current state of the repugs, this is one time when a third party just might pull itself into the mainstream. I wouldn’t expect to see multiple parties, just the hypothetical new party replacing the repugs.
