I’m not familiar with The Politico so I don’t know their slant, but I am looking for comments on the article.

The question on several counts. For one thing, is a “low-tax limited-government agenda” really Republican party “orthodoxy”?

Conspicuous by its absence is any mention of “family values” or “traditional morality” conservatives.

Are the fiscal conservatives really running the social conservatives out of the party?

Is the Club for Growth to blame for Specter leaving the GOP, or is Specter leaving the GOP because polls show he would lose a primary election to a Club for Growth candidate?

I was under the impression it was social conservatives running the fiscal conservatives out. I wouldn’t put Specter in either group. Snowe, I just don’t like her. But to pretend that the Republican party is the only one with single issue extremes is lunacy.
