Well, he seems to sometimes treat politics like a sport, so maybe it is a similar loyalty to what people feel for their home team.
It is an approach that makes me nuts. Politics isn’t a fucking game. Real people can, and do, get really hurt when bad people are elected or bad laws are passed or bad policies promulgated. It is a really shitty excuse for supporting a party that seems to go out of their way to hurt vulnerable people.
