I’ll settle for the GOP accepting basic science, reason, and the entire Age of Enlightenment for starters. I’ll even take them accepting the following facts:

—The Cold War is over
—Civil Rights and Voting Rights are a thing
—So are evolution and climate change
—A black man with an African father and an American mother is an American citizen
—There’s more than one language in the world
—There’s more than one religion in the world
—MOAR GUNZ isn’t the answer to everything
—Neither is MOAR GOD
—Homosexuality isn’t a disease or a disorder that can be “cured”
—There are no valid legal arguments against gay marriage

Let’s start there. Once they catch up on the basics we can hit more advanced coursework.

All of those are fine by me except the last one. Gay marriage still plays something of a trip with my head, so I’m not going to speak for or against it. Sorry, but that’s the best I can do on the issue right now. i don’t want to fight it and I won’t, but it remains too odd in my mind to support. That’ll change, as it has for others, but I’d ask you to let me take the time I need to get my head around things.
