He’s made some statements in the past about the Jewish Lobby an its control over US policy. Some not too nice statements about gays too. I don’t think he’s a great pick and I wonder why they can’t find anyone better. His confirmation is going to be difficult.

And looking at D_F… Saying he doesn’t support Hagel because he’s not sympathetic enough towards Israel proves Hagel’s point. Do we worry about what politicians we pick to do certain jobs because those picks may offend someone like Turkey?
