We’re weird when it comes to elites. We love elite athletes. But an elite in something like mathematics or sciences or government, oh no!

I’ve always seen that as a pride thing.

Much easier on the ol’ ego to put someone else down than to rise up. Makes ‘em feel good or something.

Also fits why so many elected Trump. He is as dull and ignorant as many of his followers. I guess you can say he speaks for them…to them. They see him do the same.
