We’re currently in a state of transition that is beyond what we’ve had to do since the Civil War. Not since then have we had elected officials who were so intent on causing so much damage for the sake of their pockets.

I can tell you from first hand interactions on Facebook, that those I know who are Trumpers are not moving from their embrace of that death-nell celebrating idiot. Most think they are defending “God”, the few who are not are just anti-social.

This rot has stewed for a very long time in America. It goes right back to the Civil War and even as far back as the Constitutional convention. Those who think that Iron Age religions are a prescription for how to live life in the 21st century are part of a larger picture of how humans do all that humans can do to avoid reality for the sake of some dubious relief a religious belief can bring.

This is a very old story. The confirmation hearing going on right now is the great grand child of The Great Awakening.

Trump said it himself - Biden is going to “hurt God”. If that isn’t the most obvious declaration of what is happening in contemporary American politics then I don’t know how to come up with a clearer example.
