Grrr… I had planned to cut up a bunch of old rotten rails and put them in the yardwaste for collection Tuesday.

However, the battery for the chainsaw registered no power. So now I am waiting to see if I didn’t seat the battery correctly in the charger, or if the battery has failed.

Btw, the newer battery powered chainsaws are matching the lower end gas chainsaws. (Say 40cc) But the battery still doesn’t have the run time of a gas chainsaw.

On the other hand, battery chainsaws are quieter, stop quicker, don’t require small engine mechanic skills, and are do not require gas-oil mixing nor put out resultant exhaust.

I have a B&D 12” that is surprisingly competent at smaller tasks. I bought a Greenworks 60V 16” that I have yet to work at anything other than a test cut but I believe it will be a real goer. I had a Makita 8” with a puny ni-cad battery that was more a toy.
