Built into the dominant nutty form of socon Christianity is the belief that Christians are the real Jews, and current-day Jews are a sort of misguided atavism that can’t see how obvious it is who the Messiah was. And current-day Jews are further divvied into “saveable” ones that echo their conservatism (and blind support of Israel at its most Likudnik) versus liberal Jews to whom every anti-semitic stereotype is freely applied.

Left Behind…or at least Fred Clark’s deconstruction of it…is a hell of a window into their mindset.

I cringed reading the bolded text. It’s true.

“I don’t see how anybody COULDN’T believe he was the Messiah!”

Paraphrasing somebody close to me… An honest answer would probably be a waste of time.
