re: #110 Myron Falwell
When have Republicans played by the rules as written?
That particular rule they would have to follow. The issue of impeachment is unlikely to come up though unless Donald Trump pulls down their election chances.
Those special elections were for people who came from safe seats; thereās no way the GOP leadership would have allowed Trump to pull a Representative from an unsafe seat.
That the elections in MT, GA, KS, and SC were so close is actually a matter of great concern to the GOP, not to mention the two safe state seats in NY and NH that went to Dems. While we might not be seeing the internal mechanisations of the GOP right now, they are counting potentially lost seats in closer districts. Any one of those four elections in a different state would have flipped seats.
The fact there were Dems that stood up for those seats and won two state seats is actually remarkable considering how red all of them were. The GOP knows this and spreading manure like ālook how much money the Dems spent and lostā misses the point of how much money the GOP spent to hold on to seats like Newt Gingrichās old seat.
As Sherlock Holmes said, āThe gameās afoot.ā This aināt over, itās only just beginning.
Just like Nixon, the instant Trump becomes a liability, just like Nixon, theyāll ask him to step aside. And if he doesnāt go willingly, theyāll push him and try to claim they āsaved the Republicā (we shouldnāt let make that claim though).
