I prefer the name John Oliver gave it: “Stupid Watergate,” because that is what it is. While Bob Mueller is a great investigator, we’re further along than we really should be for no other reason than Trump and his cabal are a bunch of fucking morons. And I think that is what scares the ever-loving shit out of the GOP, that decades of work rigging the system and putting their thumb on the scale will be blown up by a buffoon who cannot let a day go by without trying to prove to the world that he has a small dick.

As John Oliver also said, “Look up. You see that place, way, way up there above us? That’s rock bottom.”

My fear is that the GOP really has gone all in on Trump, not cynically, but because he’s shown them a magical way to stay in power - not giving a shit.

Bald-faced lie? Don’t give a shit.

Embarrassing revelation? Don’t give a shit.

Rampant corruption? Don’t give a shit.

Hypocrisy of the highest order? Don’t give a shit.

This has allowed them to steal a Supreme Court seat, to increasingly pack the Judiciary, and to line the pockets of their donors with tax cuts. Trump has taught them that they can do whatever they want, because they might just get away with it, and if they don’t, America is so forgetful that even if they get chucked out, they’ll be back in in just a few years, because a lot of voters STILL think both sides are the same.

Obama worked REALLY, REALLY HARD to try and reach bipartisan deals he was doomed to never reach, because the GOP had already decided never to let him win. Everyone said you can’t win on nothing but obstruction, nothing but saying “No!” but they did. Everyone said you can’t win by going full racist, but they did.

That’s my fear. That they really love Trump because he proved to them that they could get everything they want by simply doing whatever they please.
