Back from the village board meeting.

a) The chairwoman could not be there tonight, so I chaired the meeting for the first time since I joined the board in 2012. (I moved it along a lot faster than we usually do - something about sticking to the agenda rather than a lot of chatting about other stuff.)

b) The election results are official: I lost by two votes. Next month I open the meeting and sit on the board long enough for the new member to be sworn in for my seat, then I’m off the board.

The other board members don’t actually think I will be off the board very long, as they expect him to absent the seat shortly after being sworn in. Three unexcused absences in a row and an elected position in this state is considered abandoned by the office holder and the board can appoint a replacement. (I’m not sure how to think about that.)

Good for you for moving the meeting along rapidly. I never understood the need to drag them out with a bunch of useless chit chat.

As for whether you decide to take the seat if the Nazi fucks up…you aren’t paid for anything in this position, correct? If that’s the case, I think the town needs a lesson in not taking someone for granted who will do the job and do it well, even though he gets nothing for it except for knowing that he is doing good for the community. Fuck them and their twisted priorities and lack of respect and gratitude. Just sit back and watch the shit show commence.
