Why did the coronavirus hurt Trump?

It didn’t hurt him. He lost the election, sure. But more Republicans voted for him than any other Republican politician in all history, and he still commands a slavish cult.

I drove back from Telluride yesterday through a section of far western Colorado, really isolated towns like Norwood, Naturita, Gateway. People in that part of the country are still flying their Trump flags and signs on their property. I even saw a TRUMP 2024 sign.
