Obdicut raised a fascinating point. The point of abortion is the removal of the fetus, (or embryo?) not the death of it. If it’s viable, why not remove it and later adopt it out? The woman has had done what she needed done, and the youngster gets a shot at life with a parent that had no opportunity save adoption. One day medical technology may render the question moot.
I think the last trimester is about where we are now with the medical technology, but of course the costs of preemie care are just huge. But time has a way of making expensive procedures less so.
