I’m almost afraid to ask: cannot this be done artificially?

I don’t know. I still don’t understand how Panda’s survive in the wild. They only eat one thing -bamboo. I don’t it has much protein in it. They don’t seem very good at making babies.

I have a feeling they’d have been extinct long ago if not for zoo’s.
