Intent doesn’t matter, as the statute makes no provision for it. I must admit, however, that I find the prospect of the TV host getting in trouble because of the item he brought as a prop to badger his guest quite amusing. David Gregory broke the very type of law he claimed to favor. How’s that for ironic?
