And, as I said before, I wish I shared that faith. But with almost 2 years having passed since Bundy Ranch and absolutely no negative consequences having been applied to any of those participants, that faith seems to contrary to all available evidence.

Look, I take these guys very seriously. Contrary to ISIS and groups like that who lack the ability to hurt us in any substantive way, I think these guys are an existential threat to the United States as we know them.

With the electorate so polarized that a large percentage of people can believe that our duly elected POTUS is illegitimate and almost everything he does is a capital crime, it is hardly a stretch to think that these guys have a credible chance at developing a real base of followers and recruits. They could easily draw enough people in to pose a significant threat to the current social order on a scale larger than the one county they’re disrupting now.

These guys are whackos but, at the right (or wrong) moment in history, even whackos can change the world.
