In reality, there is no “one China policy”. Point of fact, we sell F-16’s Taiwan. The rest is just diplomatic BS. Both sided already know. I doubt a phone call changes much. Sternly worded statement to follow.

Ooo! Double qualifiers! Must be REALLY confident of your conclusion, there!

If I were China, I’d note that the incoming President is hoping to make money in Taiwan, and I’d note that this wasn’t a case of ‘Oops! the call came in and nobody knew to fob it off on a staffer!’, but rather that the call was ARRANGED by the staff, and I’d further note that the incoming US President is supposedly narrowing his SecState choices down to a list of people with widely varying views on the role of the US in the world, suggesting that the PEOTUS himself may not have a clearly-defined view, but has openly suggested that US allies might not be able to rely on US promises for their defense. I might think seriously about a number of moves to make to probe Trump’s willingness to defend people and places, to see what he really cares about.
