If he nominates a wingnut du juor from the Congressional group of GOP AZ Reps, then you’re getting a choice between:

McSally - AZ 2 (swing district, could very well go Dem in a special election) R+2
Gosar - AZ 4 - a +21R district
Biggs -= AZ 5 - a R+15 district
Schweikert - AZ 6 - R+9
Franks - AZ 8 - R+13

with special elections being so close, my money is on Gosar, incredibly safe district for the GOP and he’s a fucking nonety, so he’ll likely do whatever the fuck he’s told.

A longshot would be anyone in the state lege or he could just select Cindy McCain but that assumes that she’ll play nice, unsure about that.

Is there a special election for governor? Didn’t Brewer take over for Napalitano after she resigned to serve as DHS Sec? And I think you’re wrong about the appointment serving out the remainder of McCain’s term. The Senate election would be added to the next statewide general election - which would probably be 2018 (so Arizona would have both Senate seats on the ballot, which would be… interesting, but not unprecedented).
