Hell, wasn’t lobster once considered unsanitary and unsuitable for consumption, and only got seen as food eventually after they were the only thing that could be caught for prisoners to eat? Something like that?

I remember reading years and years ago that tomatoes were once regarded as evil. Of course, I read that in “Ripley’s Believe it or Not!” so take it with a grain of salt, LOL.
