Because it does. My impression is that the Dinesh movie pointed out all praise was due to Republicans for their freeing slaves 150 years ago and that the parties are exactly the same today as back then. That is the meme that the GOP continues to promote today. The Dems were the bad guys (and yes, many Dems were — they were the original party of the South) and until the great realignment started in the 1960’s, they remained so. And nothing has changed.
