I remain very much of the hard left & have been a Marxist since high school. But pragmatic steps, even baby steps, are what gets real progress and the idiots that can’t understand that reality drive me nuts. The ones that are flat out Trumpian racists but are hiding behind “Working Class Whites” are as utterly the enemy of the proletarian as are the fascists themselves… argh. I know I’m upset by them when I start slipping into dogmatic language.

There are times when I really wish Mike Harrington were still here to help herd the freaking cats that make up the left in America.

As far as a “dictatorship of the proletariat,” I am not a fan of any form of dictatorship, no matter how benevolent it presents itself to be.

I’m the Democratic Socialist on my village board, and I sure don’t want to dictate anything. (I do want the village government to maintain full control of things like our water system and library and such.)
