Of course it’s going to be difficult for him to hold onto support. In 2016 he was the Not Hillary in a historically small field. 2020 is shaping up to be a much bigger field, meaning he’s going to have to be something beyond Not Hillary. And I don’t think he’s going to be able to be that. Plus, this isn’t like the GOP where the nomination is likely to go to “the next in line.”

Not to mention Bernie relied totally on the public’s total lack of familiarity with him and his beliefs to get as far as he did. In a larger ‘20 field, he’s not going to have that anonymity, but he is going to have a lot of baggage to deal with. Hell, all one of them has to do to tree him is ask him for his tax returns.
