Hey VB or anyone else, a question about being Jewish:

Many of my clients have a small container screwed to the door jamb or wall at their front door or the main entrance to an abode. A long time ago I noticed one and touched it, and a sliding door opened and there was a little scroll of paper in it. I put it back in immediately.

What is this thing called? I want to read up about it.
